This limited edition Ewer has been crafted using the finest porcelain techniques at Ai Weiwei’s kiln in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi province, China. It offers collectors the chance to own a piece of original artwork by one of contemporary art’s foremost figures.
Jingdezhen has been renowned as the capital of imperial porcelain since ancient times, where porcelain vessels were exclusively supplied to the dynastic courts of China for centuries.
It is part of a limited edition of 60 pieces, of which 30 are available in this exclusive collaboration with the Design Museum. Proceeds from this collaboration will go towards funding future projects at the museum.
The design of this celadon-glazed and gourd-shaped ewer is modelled after a wine ewer or tea jug from the Song dynasty (960–1279 CE).
The artist has given the ewer a new and unique design. Unlike typical ewers, the cap is fixed to its body and its porcelain glaze finish has a soft blue hue.
Arrives beautifully boxed in a specially made presentation case and comes with a certificate of authenticity and corresponding unique limited edition number.
